Established in 2006 Thomas Castle specialise in the production of archive photographic books relating to the city of Exeter using the well known Isca Historical Photographic Collection as a prime resource. The collection, established in 1974, is the city’s largest private photographic archive with images dating from as early as 1860. The collection contains around 60,000 archive images and has been acknowledged as being of local, regional and national interest. Books produced by Thomas Castle are the work of Exeter’s longest established local author Peter Thomas who has been producing books on Exeter since 1977. His work is well known in the city and over a period, in excess of thirty years, he has produced many of Exeter’s best selling local history books. Thomas Castle strives to present high quality images and works that will not date. We are conscious of the importance of having material available for future generations to enable them to have a greater awareness of the development of Exeter over the last two hundred years and to preserve Exeter’s visual history. This website also includes Exeter books produced by the author over a thirty year period. Some titles by other publishers are still in print but many are now out of print and considered to be collector’s items.
